What is Frog@Ease
King Technologies, the same company that brought us the automatic frog system for swimming pools, has a unique sanitation system for hot tubs. It uses an inline cartridge that works with popular hot tub brands like Bullfrog and Hotsprings Hot Spot Spas, and more, or it can be purchased as a standalone floater system for any hot tub. You open your hot tub cover, snap in the conveniently adjustable cartridges, and enjoy weeks of clean water.
The @ease System combines the proven FROG mineral formula with a new SmartChlor Technology that maintains a low chlorine level for weeks, unlike standard daily chlorine. The SmartChlor maintains levels up to 75% less than hot tubs using standard Dichlor chlorine.
That’s why it’s called self-regulating. It goes to work when the hot tub needs sanitizing, so there are no frustrating yo-yo chlorine levels. This time-released method is also why less shock is needed to maintain your hot tub. The SmartChlor floating Cartridge version will tell you it is depleted by flipping over as a visual reminder to replace the empty cartridge with a new one.
What Makes It Work
The Frog@ease system consists of six parts: the cartridge holder, a mineral cartridge, a chlorine cartridge, @ease test strips, jump-start chlorine shock, and FROG. Maintain a non-chorine sold separately from the startup kit.
The first three parts are the heart of the system. The holder, minerals, and chlorine. Before attaching each cartridge to the holder, reference the instructions included in the system. Each cartridge has a dial on the bottom that needs to be set for your size hot tub. The cartridges are your primary sanitizer. Setting this correctly will make or break your chances of success.
The following three parts consist of the jump-start, a shock treatment to establish a SmartChlor level, which will be needed during each startup or SmartChlor cartridge change.
The Frog@ease test strips will let you know everything is in balance. Checking the Frog@ease Smartchlor level will also reveal alkalinity, pH, and water hardness.
The last part is the Frog Maintain, which breaks down the soaps and oils from our bodies as we soak. Without it, your water will become foamy and cloudy.
The Automatic Part
With the frog@ease system installed, it takes care of itself. The mineral cartridge works as water runs through it and purifies it for four months before running out.
This works out perfectly, as you should change your water in most hot tubs after four months. The chlorine cartridge works the same way and will dispense for 3-4 weeks before running out. Your water sanitation should be carefree when set up correctly without adding additional chlorine.
What Else Do I Need To Do?
To maintain great-looking water. I recommend testing it at least once a week and adjust accordingly. To read the SmartChlor level, you MUST use the Frog@ease test strip. A standard test strip will give you a FALSE reading.
Use FROG Maintain or an equivalent non-chlorine product to keep soaps and oils out of your tub. Depending on how much you soak, FROG Maintain should be added two or more times per week. No additional chlorine should be needed.

Quick Tips
For the first few weeks, test often. Water chemistry levels can take a few weeks to settle and be consistent. As time passes, you will fall into a routine that works for your usage.
Before placing your frog@ease cartridge into its holder, submerge it about elbow deep and turn it both ways to remove any air trapped inside. Air pocks may cause the system to be less effective.
For heavy users. If you soak in your hot tub frequently and do not read enough smartchlor on the frog@ease test strip, turn the dial on the smartchlor cartridge up one number. If your dial is at the max, add non-chlorine after each use.
Troubleshooting
No water care system is perfect. Water from one end of the country water varies and is treated differently from state to state or area. If unsure about your water source, check with your local dealer for advice and often free water testing. Often, your water source is the root of most issues with hot tub sanitizers.
